Got Issues?
Do you have a burning issue or a suggestion on how to improve the quality of
life on Fort Leonard Wood?
The Army Family Action Plan (AFAP) is an Army-wide program that allows all
members of the Army family - active duty, retirees, National Guard, Reserves,
family members, and civilian employees - the opportunity to voice concerns and
raise issues concerning the quality
of life to installation and Army leadership.
Not only has this program had an impact on Army issues, over 52% of AFAP issues
are applicable to all of the Department of Defense. All services have benefited
from pay increases, dental benefits, TRICARE reform, thrift savings plan,
Servicemen’s Group Life Insurance increases, housing allowances, educational
opportunities, and other benefits and entitlements.
Delegates from the Fort Leonard Wood community participate annually in a local
AFAP Conference where issues are prioritized and recommendations are submitted
to the installation leadership. Issues selected for the AFAP are then worked
toward resolution by the local command.
Those issues
which cannot be resolved locally are forwarded to the TRADOC and/or HQDA AFAP
Conferences, where delegates from across the Army work the issues. The issues
that are selected for the AFAP are then worked toward resolution by Army staff
and DoD agencies.
You
can be a part of the local AFAP by being a delegate, submitting an issue, or by
volunteering to assist with the conference. The next Fort Leonard Wood
AFAP Conference will be conducted 5-8 February, 2008. Click on the AFAP Forms
link to submit an issue or to complete a volunteer application form. For additional information, click
