Consumer Credit Counseling Service
(CCCS) Mid-Missouri is a not for profit community service agency. Its mission
is to develop and implement financial solutions that promote self-sufficient
individuals, families, neighborhoods and communities.
The Fort Leonard Wood office is
located with Army Community Service. Confidential counseling is available in
person and over the phone. To make an appointment with a CCCS counselor,
consumers can call (573) 329-2533 or toll-free (800) 736-0535. There are no
qualifications or requirements for any consumer services, and all counseling
visits are free of charge to consumers.
Services
Budget Development
and Analysis
Certified counselors assess the client's current financial situation and
develop a plan specifically designed to meet his or her personal needs and
financial obligations.
Educational
Services
Training specialists offer seminars, programs and presentations for both
student and adult audiences throughout the community. A variety of personal
finance topics are covered from money management to the wise use of credit.
Credit Report
Reviews
A program designed to confidentially explain the contents and meaning of
your credit report. In the credit report review session, an associate will
access your credit report, cover all the areas of content and work with you on
any of your concerns.

Debt Management
Plan
Counselors can help clients overwhelmed with debt determine a manageable
plan to repay their debts by negotiating with creditors and creating a
realistic repayment plan. The DMP serves the dual role of helping consumers
repay their debts and helping the creditors receive the money owed them. A
small monthly maintenance fee may apply.

AER Scholarships
The MG James Ursano Scholarship Fund offers assistance to
dependents of Army Soldiers on active duty, retired or deceased while on active
duty or after retirement. The scholarships are need based. Further information
can be found at the AER website,

AER is expanding the Spouse Education Assistance Program (SEAP)
to eligible spouses residing within the United States effective with Academic
Year (AY) 2006/2007. This program was previously only available to spouses in

Book Management Classes
Class
offers basic skills needed to maintain a checkbook as well as a letter to Unit
commanders for those who successfully complete the checkbook test (if seeking
reinstatement of check cashing privileges).
Class is open to all military members, their families, and civilian

Personal
Financial Budgeting
Class offers basic skills for creating and modifying a personal
budget as well as a letter to Unit commanders for those who successfully
complete the class (if commander requests proof of attendance). Class is open
to all military members, their families, and civilian employees and is held in
bldg. 470. Check in at room 1126 for class room number. Class is offered from
1300 to 1500, on the 4th Tuesday of the month. For more information

Car Buying
Class informs consumers
about the many aspects of car buying. Attend this class before you purchase so
that you do not get trapped by the “pitfalls” of car buying. Learn how to
estimate your trade-in value, look at costs, determine if you should buy new or
used, learn about negotiating, determine what options to say “no” to, and obtain
a vehicle inspection checklist. Class is open to all military members, their
families, and civilian employees and is held in bldg. 470. Check in at room
1126 for the class room number. Class is offered from 1400 to 1530, on the
