Army Community Service Outreach offers a variety of FREE classes and services to any and all military ID card holders. (*) Star classes require registration one week prior to the beginning of class. We welcome children; however, due to FCC regulations they must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. All classes are held at 53 Young Street, unless otherwise specified. Note: If school is cancelled, the House Next Door will be closed!
Programs
Free Yard Sale (47 Young Street): A variety of clothes, toys and etc. are offered FREE to any and all military ID card holders and their family members. Look for the advertised day to take advantage of the free items. Donations for the “Goodies to Go” program will be accepted the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 0900-1100. Any items left on the doorstep will be discarded. Large items (furniture) will not be accepted. The Good Samaritan in West Waynesville accepts donations of large items.
Gowns Galore: Ball gowns and dresses of various styles and sizes are available for loan. Don’t miss out on attending a function just because you think you don’t have something to wear. Donations of gowns and dresses are always welcome.
Single Parent Support Group: Meets the 1st Tuesday of each month at 1130 at 53 Young St. This group is open to all single parent ID card holders. Bring your lunch. Meet with other single parents that live or work on Fort Leonard Wood. Parenting information, guest speakers, contact with other single parents and socialization are just a few of the benefits. Crochet: Learn a new skill or challenge your mind with a new pattern or type of yarn. No prior registration required. Teaching supplies are provided for in-house usage only.
Embroidery: If needlework is something you have always wanted to try, then try our Embroidery Class!
You’ll learn how to take something simple and make it a work of art. No prior registration required.
Unfinished Project/Potluck: If you have a project that never seems to get finished or you’re not sure how to complete it, today is a day for you. The HND instructors will be on hand to offer advice and answer questions. No prior registration required.
Crafty Wednesdays: Meets every other Wednesday from 0900-1100. Leave each class with a completed craft for yourself or as a gift. Learn new skills that can be applied to other crafts. No prior registration required. Supplies will be furnished.
Latch Hook: Come learn to do Latch Hook. We’ll be using a purchased kit. Call for more info and supply list.
*Cooking Class: Interested in learning how to prepare a delicious recipe? Call to sign up and get a supply list.
Crafty Bingo: Come join the fun of Crafty Bingo. Please bring any craft items for grab bags. Call for more information.
*Trash to Treasure: We will be turning a gourd into something pretty. Gourds will be available for purchase. Call to sign up and for a supply list.
Plastic Canvas: This session is for the beginner crafter; how to take a piece of plastic canvas and make something useful for yourself and your home. No prior registration required. Teaching supplies are provided for in-house use only.
*Fast, Fun & Fusible: Come join us for a no-sew project. Call for information and a supply list.
*Wagon Wheel Weaving: We’ll be using a quilting/embroidery hoop for this three day class. Call for
information and a supply list.
*Home Décor: Come make a fall project. Call for information and supply list.
*Girls Day Out: Let’s start with a bit of pampering, then out to brunch!
