October 3 / OKTOBERFEST 

Family & MWR will host our annual Oktoberfest celebration, 3:00pm - 10:00pm at the Nutter Field House. Enjoy traditional german food ($10 Buffet), music, games and activities and of course the beiergarten! Join us for this great community event! Feiren sie freunde an Oktoberfest - Prost!

    October 17 & 18  / LORA’S 7th ANNUAL HAUNTED HAYRIDE 


The Lake of the Ozarks Recreation Area is hosting their 6th Annual Haunted Hayride from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Hay ride around LORA’s grounds with ghosts, goblins, and other scary creatures. This will be your scariest experience by the water. Cost is$2/adults, $1/youth 6-17yrs, children 5yrs & under are free. Event is open to the public. Book a cabin and spend the weekend. See LORA's highlights by day and haunts by night!

The Fort Leonard Wood Boss Program dares you to enter the 2012 Haunted House*. You've heard the stories; now experience it for yourself: the hair raising, shiver-inticing, unexplained mysteries. The BOSS Haunted House will be held at a very scary location - Bldg 711-712 Utah St (Map). $5/person. Open to the public. For more information call 573 596-6912.

October 25 / PUMPKIN FEST

Celebrate the bounty of the fall season at Family & MWR’s Pumpkin Fest Enjoy great family activities to include hayrides, mini golf, go carts, face painting, youth costume parade. Cost is $20/family of 4 ($3 ea additional family member), $10/Adults, $6/children 4-15yrs, 3yrs and under free. Event is open to the public and will be held at the Rec Plex from 12:00 am – 4:00 pm (see timeline below). Food and beverage are available for purchase.

The Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting “The Great Pumpkin Shoot.” Try a new way of carving your pumpkin this year! No paper patterns, no saws or scraper scoops, you will be using bow and arrows or shotgun! See how creative you can be. Carving is from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm and cost $8 per person. The Outdoor Adventure Center is located in Bldg. 2290 FLW K Road.

Too little for a big scare this Halloween? Boys and ghouls, ages 5 weeks to 5 years, are invited to attend the CYS Services Fall Festival Fun Night from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Pippin Youth Center. The Fall Festival Fun Night will have a variety of activities including bounce house, face painting, games, a maze and much more. Dress up because a costume contest will be the highlight of the night with prizes awarded for the “best dressed.” Event is FREE and open to the public. The Pippin Youth Center is located on 9625 Young Street. For more information call 596-0238.



The Haunted Garrison Golf Classic will be hosted by Garrison Command and the Piney Valley Golf Course with a shotgun start at 11:00 am. This is a 9 hole scramble; Cost is $20 per person if in costume or $25 if not wearing a costume. Cost includes greens fees, cart, and meal. Bring your friends, co-workers or battle buddies for a “spooktacular” time of golfing plus a chance to win a FREE annual membership in our “Drive to Win” contest as well as other chances to win prizes such as best in costume / team and Chip in the Pumpkin. Trick or Treating on Fort Leonard Wood will be held October 31, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Little ghosts and gobblins will be wandering, please remember to take additional care.




Enjoy a night of an x-tremely spooktacular bowling with spooky lights and sounds at the Daugherty Bowling Center. Games are $1 / $2 shoe rentals when you come in a costume, regular price without costume. Don’t forget to join us for the costume contest beginning at 4:00 pm, winners will be announced at 8:00 pm. Daugherty Bowling Center is open to the public. For more information call 596-1498.
