HIRED! Program

Youth 15-18 years of age

Participate in a 12 week apprenticeship and gain experience and knowledge in positions in sales, food service, veterinary services, recreation and more!  

Apprenticeship Program is a workforce-preparation and apprenticeship enterprise designed to meet the employment and career-exploration needs of Army teens 15-18 years of age. Educational Incentive Awards are available for 17-18 year olds.

What is HIRED?

HIRED! encompasses the two main components of the program, "HIRed" - actually working in a paid position - and "EDucation" - that is, participating in workforce-preparation and secondary-education exploration classes, which prepare the participant for life after high school. HIRED! Apprenticeships offer experiences within distinct career paths designed to help participants determine whether said career paths designed to help participants determine whether said career paths are viable choices for their future. 
 

Who is eligible?

15-18 year old teens with a parent who is either active duty Army or a DOD civilian employee on Fort Leonard Wood. You must register with CYSS and the HIRED program Coordinator. Youth must currently possess and maintain a 2.0 or better GPA throught the HIRED! Apprentice term. Youth must also successfully complete 6 prerequisite HIRED! Workforce Preparation Classes.

Apprenticeship Program

The HIRED! Apprenticeship Program provides 15-18 year-old youth with meaningful, professionally-managed career-exploration opportunities in Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) operations.

Participants undergo an interview process with at least 2 MWR facilities. If they are selected to work in a MWR facility, theymust work 180 hours to qualify for a $500 cash award. Teens can participate in two terms per year for three consecutive years. The more they participate, the greater the cash award.

Do you need money for college or to pay off student loans?

 

CLUBService is the new AmeriCorps educational incentive award for teens and young adults 17-24.

 

Part Time Award: $2,362.50 (10-20 hrs per week completed within 1-2 years; minimum of 900)

Applicants may only participate in up to two terms of CLUBService. Applicants must work in paid or unpaid areas of:

Educational Assitance - power hour, project learn, tutoring, computer assistance, etc

Public Safety - SMARTMoves, Smart girls, coaching, peer leader, game room aide, gym/rec. aid, etc

Member Development - Professional Development, keystone clubs, torch clubs, bgca clubs, etc

HIRED! Teen Apprenticeship Program - teens participating in the Hired! program can use their hours towards CLUBService
